President and Chief Operating Officer

Eugenie Shea serves as the President and Chief Operating Officer at Medicus Insurance Company. She is responsible for establishing and managing all corporate operations for Medicus Insurance Company and its holding company, Medicus Insurance Holdings, Inc.

Ms. Shea brings to Medicus more than 30 years of medical professional liability insurance experience. She has served in numerous insurance capacities, including underwriting, claims management, risk mitigation, agency operations and marketing within seven different medical professional liability insurance companies.

From 2004 to 2008, she served as Director for Catlin Group Inc., in charge of its excess and surplus lines healthcare professional liability nationwide program. This program provided primary and excess medical professional liability coverage through Catlin’s syndicate at Lloyd’s of London, Catlin Insurance Company, Ltd, U.K., Catlin Specialty Insurance Company and Catlin Insurance Company, Inc.

Prior to her work at Catlin, she formed and launched Advocate, MD Insurance Company of the Southwest, Inc., with Howard Lamb.

Ms. Shea was responsible for all facets of insurance operations including claims, risk management, underwriting and agent relations.

She also has experience as a Senior Vice President with Arthur J. Gallagher/GHIS focusing on the non-traditional risk transfer niche from 2002 to 2004.

Preceding her relocation to Texas, Ms. Shea served in executive management positions with three medical professional liability insurance companies headquartered in California, including her role as Executive Vice President Insurance Services for The Doctors Company, where she, again, worked with Mr. Lamb.

Ms. Shea earned a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University’s Presidential Key Executive MBA program and earned her Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. She is a member of the California Bar.
